WEEK 6: October 27th- 30th

This week we had a very inspiring talk with Jesús, an early childhood education teacher who shared his professional journey with us. He emphasized the importance of emotions in education and how teachers should not only teach academic content but also help children understand, express, and manage their emotions. Jesús believes that emotional education is the foundation for healthy learning and personal growth. He also shared some of his children’s poems, full of imagination and tenderness, showing how poetry can be a bridge between emotions and education. His way of speaking was very close and heartfelt, which made the talk even more engaging.

Later in the week, we attended a very creative and enjoyable presentation. The group who presented designed a set of experimental activities for children. One of them was a small “science experiment” using simple materials like a glass, water, vinegar, and food coloring. The activity demonstrated how these ingredients interact, creating a fun and colorful effect that captures children’s attention. It was a great example of how learning through experimentation can be both educational and exciting for young learners.

We also started learning about the E-PEL (European Portfolio for Early Childhood Education Students’ Reflective Learning). It’s a digital portfolio where we record and reflect on our experiences, skills, and progress throughout our studies in other languages. The E-PEL helps us connect theory with practice and develop self-awareness as future teachers. It encourages us to think critically about what we do, what we learn, and how we can improve in our professional growth.

My opinion:
I really enjoyed this week because it was full of learning and inspiration. Jesús’s talk made me reflect on the importance of emotional connection in education and the value of creativity in teaching. The experimental presentation was entertaining and showed how science can be introduced in a simple, hands-on way. Learning about the E-PEL also helped me understand the importance of reflecting on my own learning process to become a better teacher in the future.
