WEEK 6: October 27th- 30th

This week we had a very inspiring talk with Jesús, an early childhood education teacher who shared his professional journey with us. He emphasized the importance of emotions in education and how teachers should not only teach academic content but also help children understand, express, and manage their emotions. Jesús believes that emotional education is the foundation for healthy learning and personal growth. He also shared some of his children’s poems, full of imagination and tenderness, showing how poetry can be a bridge between emotions and education. His way of speaking was very close and heartfelt, which made the talk even more engaging.

Later in the week, we attended a very creative and enjoyable presentation. The group who presented designed a set of experimental activities for children. One of them was a small “science experiment” using simple materials like a glass, water, vinegar, and food coloring. The activity demonstrated how these ingredients interact, creating a fun and colorful effect that captures children’s attention. It was a great example of how learning through experimentation can be both educational and exciting for young learners.

We also started learning about the E-PEL (European Portfolio for Early Childhood Education Students’ Reflective Learning). It’s a digital portfolio where we record and reflect on our experiences, skills, and progress throughout our studies in other languages. The E-PEL helps us connect theory with practice and develop self-awareness as future teachers. It encourages us to think critically about what we do, what we learn, and how we can improve in our professional growth.

My opinion:
I really enjoyed this week because it was full of learning and inspiration. Jesús’s talk made me reflect on the importance of emotional connection in education and the value of creativity in teaching. The experimental presentation was entertaining and showed how science can be introduced in a simple, hands-on way. Learning about the E-PEL also helped me understand the importance of reflecting on my own learning process to become a better teacher in the future.

WEEK 5: October 20th- 23rd

This week, we continued with the student presentations. On October 21st, there were several expositions, and the teacher explained how to design a Didactic Unit. We talked about its structure, objectives, and how to connect activities with learning outcomes.

On October 22nd, I did my own presentation about Basic Language Classroom Routines and Classroom Management and also shared my “About Me” activity. My classmates brought very creative materials and prepared interesting and interactive activities.

On October 23rd, we watched two more presentations that included jazz chants, storytelling, a supermarket role-play, and geometry activities.

I learned how to plan and organize a Didactic Unit, which includes setting clear objectives, choosing appropriate methods, and creating activities that match the students’ level. I also learned new ideas for classroom routines and management, and how creative strategies like songs, games, and role-plays can improve motivation and participation.

My opinion:
This week was very enriching because I could present my own topic and also learn about didactic planning. At first, I was a bit nervous during my presentation, but then I felt proud of my work. The other groups’ presentations were inspiring and full of creativity, and I realized how important it is to make lessons engaging for students.

WEEK 4: October 13th- 16th

We continued with the student presentations about different teaching methods. Each group prepared creative and interactive activities to explain their assigned topic. Some presentations included games, songs, visual aids, and examples of classroom practice.

I learned that every teaching method can be adapted to different ages and levels. My classmates showed how teachers can make lessons more attractive using imagination and variety. It also helped me improve my listening and note-taking skills.

My opinion:
I really enjoyed this week because I could learn from my classmates and see different teaching styles in action. It was inspiring and gave me new ideas for my future lessons. I also realized how important creativity is when teaching a foreign language.

WEEK 3: October 6th- 9th

We watched a video about Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). We also worked in pairs, practicing communicative activities, and studied new methods such as Task-Based Learning (TBL) and Total Physical Response (TPR).

I learned that CLT focuses on communication and real-life use of the language, CLIL integrates language with other subjects, and TPR uses movement and physical response to learn new words and structures. I also realized that these methods make learning more meaningful and enjoyable.

My opinion:
I really liked this week because the lessons were dynamic and participative. Working in pairs helped me feel more confident and less afraid of making mistakes. I think learning through activities and games is more effective than studying only theory.

WEEK 2: September 29th- October 2nd

This week, we watched a video about Bloom’s Taxonomy and drew a house to represent its different levels. We also worked on a worksheet about vowels and consonants, and we studied several teaching methods such as the Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and the Direct Method (DM). Additionally, we discussed concepts like “approach,” “method,” and “technique,” and learned about other methods like the Oral Approach, Suggestopedia, and the Audio-Lingual Method.

I learned that the GTM focuses on grammar, translation, and accuracy, while the Direct Method emphasizes communication, pronunciation, and spontaneous use of the language. I also understood that each method reflects different ideas about how people learn languages, and that teachers can combine them depending on their students’ needs.

My opinion:
It was a very complete and theoretical week, but I found it interesting because it helped me understand the history and evolution of language teaching. I think knowing these methods is essential for future teachers, since we can adapt their best aspects to our own classes.

WEEK 1: September 22nd-25th

During this week, we started by working on pronunciation. We focused especially on vowel sounds, segmental phonemes, and the rhythm of the English language. We practiced how to produce the sounds correctly and did some listening and repetition activities to improve our accent.

I learned how to pronounce English vowels more accurately and discovered that rhythm and stress are very important to sound natural when speaking. I also understood that pronunciation requires constant practice and patience, but it really helps to communicate better.

My opinion:
I liked this lesson because it was practical and useful for everyday communication. Even though pronunciation can be challenging, I felt motivated to keep improving. It made me more aware of how English sounds and how small differences can change the meaning of words.
