WEEK 2: September 29th- October 2nd

This week, we watched a video about Bloom’s Taxonomy and drew a house to represent its different levels. We also worked on a worksheet about vowels and consonants, and we studied several teaching methods such as the Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and the Direct Method (DM). Additionally, we discussed concepts like “approach,” “method,” and “technique,” and learned about other methods like the Oral Approach, Suggestopedia, and the Audio-Lingual Method.

I learned that the GTM focuses on grammar, translation, and accuracy, while the Direct Method emphasizes communication, pronunciation, and spontaneous use of the language. I also understood that each method reflects different ideas about how people learn languages, and that teachers can combine them depending on their students’ needs.

My opinion:
It was a very complete and theoretical week, but I found it interesting because it helped me understand the history and evolution of language teaching. I think knowing these methods is essential for future teachers, since we can adapt their best aspects to our own classes.
